Friday Favourites: 8
Ever wanted to become a vintage-wearing, movie-making, marathon-runner? Thought so. This week’s favourites will sort you out.
1. Future Shorts showcases the most exciting short film-makers from around the world. Screenings in Tokyo - on the 22nd and 23rd February at 3331 Arts Chiyoda - range from the humorous love story “Lovebirds” (Czech Republic, 2010) to the surreal coming-of-age short “Candy Girl” (UK, 2012). Make some time this weekend to find your favourite.
2. Visit the newly opened exhibition at the Barbican - The Bride and the Bachelors - for a look at Duchamp’s legacy on Cage, Cunningham, Rauschenberg and Johns and be sure to ponder the subversive depths of Duchamp’s infamous urinal while you’re there.
3. From Wednesday February 13th until Sunday February 24th the National Art Centre in Roppongi becomes the main venue for the 16th Japan Media Arts Festival Exhibition
4. Tokyo Marathon has come around again. If you’re not taking part, go and encourage the marathon runners on Sunday morning. It’s the very least you can do.
5. Join the likes of Kylie in foraging for vintage pieces this weekend: Frock Me - a vintage paradise brimming with amazing bargains - starts at 11am on Sunday at the Chelsea Town Hall.
