Yumiko Higuchi: Embroidery art

Yumiko Higuchi depicts an arkful of animals, insects and plants in her portfolio of embroidery.

The work of embroidery artist Yumiko Higuchi is both delicate and detailed. With only a stretch of fabric and a range of richly-coloured threads, Higuchi depicts woodland scenes, still lives and funny animal patterns, demonstrating a clear and distinguished skill in sewing. Studying at Tama Art University, Higuchi now lives and works in Tokyo - although her pieces have a traditionally English, almost William Morris-esque, feel.
