Adam Magyar: Stainless

Photographer Adam Magyar slows down the pace of one of the world's busiest stations.

Shinjuku is one of the busiest stations in the world. It sees several million commuters pass through it every day, and will contain, at any given time, such an army of people that new visitors may feel as though they've stumbled into pandemonium. In Hungarian photographer Adam Magyar's hands, however, Shinjuku Station is made to seem decidedly peaceful. With the use of a self-made camera, recording at the unusual speed of fifty frames per second, Magyar's footage of the station is mesmeric. His eleven minute film Stainless allows a remarkably detailed look at the faces in a crowd which would otherwise remain a blur.
