Kenji Hirasawa: Portraits

Heat-sensitive portraits created with the use of thermographic cameras.

Best known for his series 'Celebrity' - a fascinating infra-red depiction of tourists at Madame Tussauds, published in a photo collection book and exhibited in a London show of the same name - Tokyo-born photographer Kenji Hirasawa has returned with his first solo exhibit in Japan, entitled 'Portraits'. With the use of thermographic cameras, Hirasawa creates heat-sensitive portraits which convey an otherwise invisible sense of vitality and warmth in a collection he has been developing since 2003. While you're there, be sure to pick up a BEAMS T exclusive T-shirt printed alongside the exhibit; this show is one you will want to boast about going to.
