Crafts Council: Experimental animation meets pottery

Animation meets pottery in an imaginative collaboration from the Crafts Council.

If your lunchbreak needs a little dose of inspiration, have a look at this short film from animatorJim Le Fevre, film-maker Mike Paterson and RAMP, the Devon-based porcelain and earthenware studio run by Roops and Al Johnstone. Together, these creators have introduced experimental animation into the art of pottery, to inventive and mesmerising effect. In this film, a beautifully hand-painted pot is spun and animated so that the motifs around it are made to dance - and its result is a perfect union of digital media and pottery. Its creators were brought together by the Crafts Council - a charity working to promote contemporary craft - and precedes a new touring exhibition called 'Reel to Real', which includes the work of over twenty makers and collaborators.
