Ryosuke Fukusada: Inrou

Ryosuke Fukusada draws on tradition for the design of his new cork backpack.

An inrou is a Japanese box, traditionally used to carry medicine and personal items. It serves as the inspiration for designer Ryosuke Fukusada's new backpack, which, being made entirely from cork, is both protective and lightweight. Born in Osaka in 1979, Fukusada went on to study at Kanazawa College of Art and the Domus Academy in Italy, before establishing a design studio in Kyoto. Fukusada collaborated on this project with Rui Pereira, a Portuguese industrial designer, currently living and working in Milan.
